This dissertation aims at exploring the extent to which parents interfere with the school unit, which has concerned a large number of researchers, due to its importance and its complicacy. Specifically, the way in which parents interfere with the school activities is studied, the benefits of such interference for the student, the teacher’s work as well as for the parents themselves, the factors that influence the extent of their interference, as well as strategies to reinforce their participation. The research was carried out through study, analysis - processing and composition of the bibliographic sources which are directly linked with this issue. The bibliographic review led to some remarkable conclusions. There has been an increase in the interest of parents to actively participate in the school reality in the recent years. Among other factors, a very crucial one has been the institutionalising of parental participation. Furthermore, throughout the bibliography as a whole, the importance of good interpersonal relations is highlighted, both in promoting knowledge and cognitive development of a child, as well as in managing behavioral malfunctions. Some other factors, however, obstruct an effective cooperation. The parents’ low socioeconomic and educational status, their traumatic school experiences and the discouraging attitude of the school unit are only a few to mention. Finally, both the teachers through appropriate training and education, and the parents through parents meetings, can improve their interpersonal relations for the benefit of everyone and mainly of the child
