Teaching literacy using ICT (Bachelor thesis)

The subject of the current thesis is the didactics of language teaching with the use of information and communications technology. The purpose of the study is the exploration of the subject and the creation of 10 instructional scenarios .For the research of this subject we have studied: a) the didactics of language teaching, b) the objectives of language teaching, c) Language teaching with the use of I.C.T., d) the softwares that can be used and e) the planning of 10 instructional scenarios on language teaching with the use of I.C.T. as well as with objectives and texts , took place , for all classes of the primary school. The study was based on the teaching objectives of the contemporary Curriculum studied as these are practiced within the language books and the new trial Curriculum (New School). Basic characteristic of schools, nowadays is the introduction of New Technologies and information in education and it presupposes the existence and exploitation if the reliable programs. New technologies and especially the information Technology with the huge amount of modem applications, has been identified with what we call progress / growth. The introduction of New Technologies is School changes the role of the schoolteacher and the teacher is general. Until today, the teacher and the school books were the main source of information. Henceforth, the teacher will have the additional role to select the suitable programs, to organize their use inside and outside class, to check the evaluations of his students, to explain difficult or obscure points, to refer in additional bibliography and generally speaking, he should instruct the learning of conventional course. Language and its teaching constitutes a conventional course but with the use of I.C.T. and the suitable softwares it can become a very interesting course. The education in general and specifically the provided education can acquire again the interest needed in order to the love and the essential participation of the students. Consequently, the development of a new perspective in Modern Greek language teaching is needed, which will be based on the language abilities of every student and which will provide equal linguistic growth and academic development opportunities to all the students, no matter what their origin is
