The present study explores the relationship between the executive control, the metacognitive awareness and the spatial ability during childhood. 45 students of 10-12 years old participated in the study. The participants were examined in 2 cognitive tasks which dealt with the virtual-spatial ability. Additionally, for the determination of co-consciousness - awareness of the participants during the solving process of the virtual tasks, the method of thinking aloud was followed. All the participants were examined individually. The process of the results was realized based on the current bibliography for the structure of the cognitive system, and also the contemporary views on the relation between executive control and metacognitive awareness as far as the cognitive activity is concerned. It appeared that the children in the age of 11-12 have a higher level of executive control
