This study aimed at revealing the effect that the awareness of mental processes as well as the inhibitory control may have on the development of reasoning during childhood. For this aim, 195 children aged from 5 to 11 years were tested with a series of tasks. For the determination of participants’ awareness about mind, 6 faux pas stories were used while for the determination of participants’ ability to draw inferences on the basis of inductive processes,2 videos stories were uses. For the determination of their inhibitory control, a computerized task based on the Simon effect was presented to the participants. The results showed an effect of age on all the variables involved in the study. Moreover, it was found that the ability to draw inferences is affected by the awareness about the mind but also by the efficiency in inhibitory control
