There are factors that have a direct or indirect impact on the school performance of the students and as demonstrated by the literature references, the number of these factors is rather high. Knowledge of the factors that affect positively or negatively the school performance of the students is essential for all teachers. Provided that the teachers take into account all the factors, they might be able to help their students on a more personal, educational and social level. One of the aspects of this dissertation will be to clarify the terms assessment, rating, efficiency and performance. Moreover, the present study examines the factors that may affect school performance of students, according to modern English and Greek literature and research reports. The survey we conducted aimed to examine the views of the teachers regarding the factors they consider to be affecting the school performance of the students in primary schools of the city of Alexandroupolis. More specifically, our research aims to identify what the teachers think about whether the mother language, the country of origin, the teacher himself, his assessment for each student, the student himself, the individual characteristics and the place of residence can affect school performance. Our survey involved 52 teachers who filled our questionnaire. From the analysis of the collected data, we concluded that family, both in matter of the interpersonal relationships that are formed within and regarding the educational level of the parents, perhaps is the most decisive factor in the school performance of the students, that most of the times the parental involvement has a positive effect in the school performance of the students, that anxiety and the environment of the classroom has a very strong impact on the student’s performance, on the other hand, the initial impressions that the teacher formulates for each student doesn’t seem to affect their actual school performance
