Schools of the town Soufli in the decade 1920-1930 (Master thesis)

The aim of this study is, on one hand, the exploration of the local history of Soufli and on the other, the elevation of the local education during the decade of 1920-1930. The survey was carried out through an archival study at the First and Second Preliminary Schools of Soufli. The class lists of the four schools of Soufli in the decade of 1920-1930, as well as the school records were used as the material of the study. Throughout class lists, what was elevated was the total number of the students that had participated in the educational procedure, as well as the educational stagnation percentages that were designated throughout the class lists. Drawing from the clues gathered throughout the study, it became evident that boys showed more active behavior regarding education, as they outweighed girls on a registration level as well as in continuing their school studies. As far as educational Stagnation is concerned this is observed to be more evident in the First Grade of the Preliminary School for most of the school years. However, this was not the case in the school year of 1929-1930, when stagnation was shifted to B, C and D Grades of the Preliminary School. Furthermore, if we try to refer to the whole period studied, although stagnation was noticeable throughout, it alternated between boys and girls and it continually changed every year and in every single class
