School unit evaluation – The example of self-evaluation (Bachelor thesis)

The social and cultural circumstances due to the economical and social fluidity that prevail at national level during the second decade of the twenty first century, could be leading to the creation of an effective educational system which would allow our country to move about smoothly and creatively in a competitive European environment. Also, since the effectiveness of the educational system depends on the effectiveness of the educational project at a school unit level which is the least and nowadays essential level of its practice, the aim of this paper is to approach theoritically this very subject by describing the process of the school unit's own self-assessment, as some kind of an internal evaluation. In addition, its aim is to clarify concepts, to record its history and the relevant legislature, to highlight the pros and cons of said process, as showed through the testimonies of the head masters who participated in the brief application of the institution to school units across the country and are described in the Observatory of Learning Outcomes of the school unit
