Educating the coming educators.Personal theories and expectations that students have (Bachelor thesis)

The purpose of this research is to study personal theories and expectations which 1st year students at Department of Education Sciences in Early Childhood have formed in relation to their studies. The sample consists of 113 students from Department of Education Sciences in Early Childhood of which 109 were women, four (4) were men and all of them were studying in their 1st term of their course in the 1st year 2015 – 2016. To accomplish this research a questionnaire was used to collect data. This consisted of 20 questions concerning the student’s studies. The results showed that the majority of students believe that they need to nurture love for the children and have patience. It was also necessary to be tolerant with the children and not to be strict. Furthermore it seems that the students are well informed about their studies and are interested in becoming well trained teachers. On the other hand they expect Department of Education Sciences in Early Childhood to support them with the knowledge and skills required for their course of study
