Reasoning, theory of mind, language and executive control during infancy and childhood (Bachelor thesis)

The aim of this study was to examine how age could affect the development of cognitive processes, such as human reasoning, theory of mind, executive control and linguistic ability. In addition, information regarding the correlation grade between the variables mentioned above are presented in our research. Generally, it is considered that these cognitive processes can change over time and it is proven that they can play a vital role in the conformation of human behavior. Our analysis focuses on more than 190 children between the ages of 4 and 12 and their responds have been evaluated with the appropriate tests’ measurement. All participants were examined individually. The results of the research indicate that age can affect all the variables of cognitive processes analyzed in our study. Finally, it was found that the ability to draw inferences is influenced by the theory of mind, the executive control and the linguistic ability
