The aim of this study is of this survey is to investigate the ways in which primary school students of different age perceive and attribute meaning to the current financial crisis and phenomena (i.e. prosperity, austerity) and structures related to it (i.e. troika) . Twenty nine (29) students aged 7-12 years (17 girls, 12 boys) participated in the study. Students were found through the “snowball” technique and come from the cities of Alexandroupolis, Xanthi and Volos. Data were collected from December 2015 to April 2016 through an interview which lasted 30-40 minutes. Interviews were taped and transcribed and data were submitted to a thematic analysis. According to findings, it seems that children’s knowledge about financial crisis and the related phenomena or structures comes mainly from their significant others or the media but not from the school. Moreover, all children express a negative attitude towards the phenomena of economic crisis and austerity as well as related structures such as troika, but not prosperity. Students also seem to be able to discuss about these phenomena or structures and evaluate them from an early age whereas the ways they ascribe meaning to them seems to differentiate according to age. Finally, with respect to the effect of financial crisis on their lives, a lot of children report very negative feelings such as anger or fear. Moreover, younger children talk mainly about individual consequences or consequences concerning their “own little world” while older ones talk about the broader consequences at a social, financial or political level
