The education of the prospective teachers, from 1933 to 1989, took place at the Pedagogical Academies. The main goal of our study is to explore and to examine the stringency conditions that prevailed both inside and outside the Academy, the social control that was imposed on the students of the Pedagogical Academies, as well as their social profile, during 1960-1980. At first, there is a brief overview of the bibliography related to the subject that is being studied. Subsequently, we provide the methodology of the study and we outline the results of the qualitative research that was carried out on twelve people who had studied at the Pedagogical Academies between 1960-1980. Moreover, through the description and the interpretation of the results, the general conclusions of our work have emerged, where we point out the low social background of the students, as well as their origin from rural areas. Other characteristics of the studied period are the prerequisite control of the «racist» criteria that preceded the written exams, and the audit related to the political ideology of the candidates that was exerted to them at certain periods. Last but not least, the stringency of the Academies appears through the duration of their operation, culminating in social control which extended beyond these schools
