Early expressive language delay is often a predictor of future language disorders, which, if they are not diagnosed and treated, can have important consequences in many areas of child development (e.g. school achievement, cognitive, social, emotional development). For that reason, the early screening of communicative and language development in young children, as well as the prediction of their subsequent development, are in the focus of recent research. The aim of this study is to examine the predictive validity of Communication Development Report [CDR], a new parent questionnaire for the early screening of the communication and linguistic development of Greek-speaking children aged 7 to 30 months, which has been developed and standardized recently (Karousou & Petrogiannis, 2014). For the needs of this study, a questionnaire was administered to 80 parents of children who had participated in the standardization study of the CDR, 5 years ago. Results showed that the percentiles attributed to children when they were 7 to 30 months old in the two principal scales of the CDR, are related to whether these children are diagnosed today with a language disorder. Based on these results, we can conclude that the CDR could be proven to be a useful instrument for the prediction of language development and the early detection of children at risk for language disorders
