Students evaluating teachers: theoretical and empirical approach (Bachelor thesis)

This diploma thesis was conducted in the context of our undergraduate studies at the Department of Primary Education, Faculty of Primary Education, in the academic year 2016-2017. Our purpose is to analyze and trace the characteristics of the teacher assessed by his students. Initially, the notion of evaluation, particular in the field of education, as well as its purpose and concerns. At the same time, the formal and informal forms of educational evaluation are analyzed, namely the teacher's evaluation by the manager and the school counselor and, by himself (self-evaluation), the parents, the colleagues and the pupils, respectively. Then, emphasis is placed on the way the pupil evaluates his teacher, after an extensive review of the relevant bibliography. According to this, children focus on the characteristics of the personality of the teacher, such as his appearance, his humor, etc., in his teaching capacity, such as giving them a lot of homework or using a variety of teaching methods. One more aspect is also the evaluation of interpersonal relationships by the students, which the teacher develops with them, etc. In addition, a survey of 47 pupils from the last three grades of the Prefecture of Pella, with the help of the questionnaire, which was carried out as a research tool, for a more extensive documentation of the findings of the bibliography. The analysis of the data showed that the results are in line with those of other scientific studies. In conclusion, we ascertain that although children do not consider it necessary to contribute to the evaluation of their teacher, they seem to have formed an insight into how the ideal educator is for them
